Life insurance contracts linked to investment funds whose policy balance is expressed through units of account, representing autonomous funds consisting of the insurer's assets or shares in one or more investment funds and whose return is therefore dependent on the evolution in value of these assets.
Capitalization insurance is life insurance that may provide associated additional risk coverage or may be exclusively financial. These are financial instruments intended for those who wish to invest in the medium and long term, given the most favorable tax system applied to income obtained from insurance contracts, or for investors who wish to engage in succession planning, as they can appoint beneficiaries for their policy. Capitalization insurance offers capital guarantees, and sometimes return guarantees, provided by the insurer, thus making them attractive saving instruments for risk-averse investors.
Unit-Linked funds can invest in a diversified investment portfolio, and can assume greater risks to obtain a higher return, but capital is not usually guaranteed.
